Step-by-Step Guide for Digital Estate Clients
If you’re collaborating with Digital Estate on SEO, advertising, or analytics, we may request access to your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property. This access enables us to analyze your website’s performance, monitor user behavior, and provide data-driven recommendations to enhance your online presence.
Step-by-Step Instructions to Add a User in GA4
1. Sign In to Google Analytics
Navigate to https://analytics.google.com and log in with the Google account that has administrative access to your GA4 property.
2. Access the Admin Panel
In the lower-left corner, click on the Admin gear icon to open the Admin settings.
3. Select the Appropriate Property
In the Property column, ensure you’ve selected the correct GA4 property associated with your website.
4. Open Property Access Management
Under the Property column, click on Property Access Management.
5. Add a New User
- Click the blue + button in the top-right corner and select Add users.
- Enter the email address:
workspace@digitalestate.co.nz. - Choose the appropriate role:
- Editor: Can edit settings and data but cannot manage users.
- Administrator: Full control, including managing users.
- Optionally, check Notify new users by email to send an invitation.
- Click Add to grant access
Note: Assigning the Editor role is typically sufficient for our collaboration. However, if you prefer, you can grant the Administrator role for full access.
To edit or remove user permissions:
- Return to Property Access Management.
- Locate the user in the list.
- Click on their name to modify roles or remove access.
- Click Save to apply changes.
Understanding GA4 User Roles
GA4 offers the following user roles:
- Administrator: Full control over settings and user management.
- Editor: Can edit settings and data but cannot manage users.
- Analyst: Can create and share assets but cannot edit settings.
- Viewer: Read-only access to reports and settings.

- Multiple Administrators: Ensure at least two users have Administrator access to prevent lockouts.
- Regular Reviews: Periodically review user access to maintain security.
- Use Individual Accounts: Avoid shared logins; assign access to individual Google accounts.
